Man Stabbed by Transient

San Luis Police arrested a stabbing suspect, who fled the scene after an assault, when he turned himself in to police.

According to SLOPD, suspect Geffery Stephenson, 19, a SLO transient was involved in a physical altercation with another man at Devaul Park near Madonna Road last Sunday around 10:52 p.m. Police responded to Devaul Park after receiving a call regarding a stabbing at that location.

Police located the victim near a picnic table at the park, who in turn told them the suspect had fled toward Devaul Ranch before police arrived. The victim told police he and the suspect argued and ended up in a physical altercation.
It was during the physical altercation the suspect stabbed the victim in the left torso causing a punctured lung. The victim was transported to Sierra Vista Hospital and is in stable condition.

Police identified the suspect through his cell phone, credit cards, and Cal ID card that were located at the crime scene. The San Luis Obispo Police Department sought Stephenson for assault with a deadly weapon. Stephenson is reported to be a transient and may have a camp on the Dalidio property. However, last week , Stephenson turned himself in at the San Luis Obispo Police Department.
