The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department has reportedly arrested a man in connection to the murder of a 31-year-old man, according to an official press release.
Montrell Woods, 19, was reportedly booked into the Sacramento Main Jail for murder in the early morning of January 23, 2014.
According to Sac Sheriff, on Wednesday, January 22, 2014, at approximately 3 pm, the Sheriff’s Communications Center received multiple 911 calls from an apartment complex in the 1800 block of Ethan Way, all reporting a man had been shot. Upon arrival, Deputies reportedly found out the 31-year-old male shooting victim has already been taken to a local hospital by this family, where he was later pronounced dead.
Sheriff’s Homicide Detectives were reportedly able to determine the victim and suspect — later identified as Woods — had been involved in a verbal altercation when the suspect shot the victim one time in the upper body. Although the suspect had reportedly fled the scene, detectives had reportedly been able to identity him and knew his whereabouts, resulting in his arrest.
The victim’s identity will reportedly be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
