Two Arrested for Suspected Carjacking

PISMO BEACH – Police arrested two men on suspicion of attempted carjacking, after the pair tried to force a driver out of his vehicle in a bank parking lot Tuesday afternoon.

According to police, the two men stopped a vehicle in the Bank of America parking lot on Price Street just before 1:30 p.m. Aug. 13 and attempted to open the driver’s side door of the car.

The vehicle’s doors were locked, stopping the men from getting the driver out of the car. The pair fled the area on foot.

The suspects, who identified by the victim, were located a few blocks away on Wilmar Avenue, where they were taken into custody without incident, police said.

Douglas Wayne Dotson, 32, of Manteca and Thor Phoenix Powers, 36, of Long Beach were booked at San Luis Obispo County Jail on suspicion of attempted carjacking, criminal conspiracy and possession of narcotics plus outstanding warrants.

Both men are being held on $100,000 bail, police said.
