Three Men Arrested for Child Pornography in Separate Cases

Three men accused of child pornography are in jail this week after authorities investigated three separate cases in three separate cities in an effort to combat crimes against children.

David Godinez, 28, of Visalia, was arrested early Tuesday morning after agents with the Central Valley Internet Crimes Against Children task force served a search warrant at his residence in the 1800 block of North Willis Street. Investigators had begun to look into Godinez in early March. They said he downloaded child pornography at least five times through the same Internet Protocol address.

Police seized laptop computers, a desktop computer and two handguns from Godinez’ residence. On the computers they found images of pre-pubescent children, authorities said.

What makes the situation even more disturbing is that two children, Godinez’ niece and his girlfriend’s son, lived in the home with Godinez.

It is unclear whether Godinez will face state or federal charges for possession of child pornography. Right now, he is being held in the Tulare County Main Jail. He has no prior record.

In another incident, Navy Petty Officer Sean Eberle, 37, was taken into custody on Tuesday for possessing child pornography. He was arrested while working at the Lemoore Naval Air Base and was placed in Kings County Jail. The arrest was the culmination of a joint investigation by the Kings County District Attorney’s office and the Crimes Against Children task force.

Sean Eberle

After conducting an analysis of digital media belonging to Eberle, investigators discovered that he was exploiting pictures of children in addition to possessing child pornography. Eberle, who has been in the Navy for 16 years, will face a charge of sexually exploiting a minor and two counts of possession of child pornography charges.

A Fresno man was arrested for allegedly secretly videotaping underage girls. Fresno police seized evidence from 34-year-old Derek Garcia’s home after learning that Garcia was downloading child porn.

Garcia is a registered sex offender. In 1997, he was charged with raping a 14-year-old girl, for which he served a year in prison and four years on probation. Garcia is currently in Fresno County Jail facing five felony charges for child pornography.
