Man finds a woman had moved in while he was away

Vacaville – Jessica Gilkey, 28-year-old resident of Vallejo, was arrested Wednesday for burglary and probation violation, both felonies; and for misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Jessica Gilkey created her own "Move In Special" at a temporarily unoccupied apartment at this complex in Vacaville

Vacaville Police were contacted Wednesday afternoon by a man who’d returned home and found a woman who was a complete stranger to him living in his apartment. Officers went to the 1300 block of Burton Drive, where the male resident of the apartment informed them he’d been out of state for approximately two weeks. When he came back and discovered Gilkey living in his place, and confronted her, she claimed to be the legitimate resident. At that point he called the police.

Officers opened the front door and ordered Gilkey to step outside the apartment. Instead she ran down an interior hallway and locked herself in the bathroom, refusing to cooperate with repeated orders to exit. Eventually officers were forced to remove Gilkey from the bathroom, at which point it was discovered that she had in her possession property belonging to the lawful resident of the apartment.

Further investigation revealed she’d gained entry and had been living in the apartment while the legal renter was out of town. Anyone with further information regarding this incident is asked to call the Vacaville Police Department at 707-449-5200.
