Sac Sheriff Investigate North Highlands Homicide

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department is currently investigating a fatal shooting in North Highlands, according to an official department press release.

Shortly after 6:25am on Monday, August 27, deputies reportedly responded to the 3400 block of Myrtle Avenue to reports of a female down with unknown injuries. Prior to deputies arriving, the Sheriff’s Communications Center was advised by fire personnel that they found a victim and had pronounced her deceased at the scene.

The shooting occurred early in the morning in this North Highlands area.

Upon arriving at the scene, deputies reportedly found the victim – a single black female adult who had suffered a fatal gunshot wound to her upper body – in the parking lot between buildings at the business complex. The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of her next of kin.

According to detectives, the victim was last seen shortly after midnight walking alone in the area. Detectives have not yet identified a motive for the shooting, any suspect description, or any reports of gunshots being heard during the evening or early morning hours.
