Victim’s yells bring help, neighbors detain suspect

San Luis Obispo Police arrested a suspect who was caught in the act of breaking into a vehicle.

David Boyer, 56, of San Luis Obispo was taken into custody by SLOPD after he was allegedly breaking into a parked truck.

Police say the truck’s owner saw Boyer inside the vehicle on the 200 Block of Highland Drive on Wednesday around 9:42 p.m.

The truck owner yelled for help, which brought out several neighbors, who then detained Boyer until police could arrive on the scene.

Police say Boyer was found with some items which were identified as another neighbor’s property from a previous theft.

Boyer was booked in jail for theft and possession of stolen property. His bail was set at $20,000.
