Police seek gunman who killed one, wounded another

SAN BERNARDINO – Police are still searching for a gunman who killed one man and wounded another on Tuesday night.

Brian Keith Ebert, 40, was found shot in the front yard at a home on the 1300 block of North F St., according to police, along with Johnny Arnold, 37.

Police were summoned to the address by neighbors who heard the shots shortly before 10 p.m. When officers arrived, according to a written statement, they found both men suffering from gunshot wounds.

Ebert, a resident of San Bernardino, was taken to Loma Linda University Medical Center where he died at 10:37 p.m. Arnold was treated and released.

“An argument may have led to the shooting,” said Sgt. Gary Robertson in a statement.

The killer escaped. The shooter’s identity is still unknown,” said Lt. Gwendolyn Waters. “I don’t have any information from Mr. Arnold’s statement that I can release.”

Police are seeking the shooter on charges of murder and attempted murder, said Robertson.

Gang involvement, Waters said, “is not suspected at this time.”

Waters said Arnold, who had been released soon after being treated, didn’t have any life-threatening injuries. “He wasn’t even admitted to the hospital,” she said.

The shooting took place at an area close to the Interstate 215 freeway in a residential area considered close to downtown, a short distance from the San Bernardino Police Dept.

Anyone with information about the incident, said Robertson, should contact Detective Steve Turner (909-384-5647).
