SACRAMENTO — He could be called the “beer bandit,” and authorities want him apprehended.
The Sacramento Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who robbed a local convenience store clerk at gunpoint last month.
On Aug. 24, at 2:06 a.m., the suspect walked into a convenience store located in the 5300 block of Fruitridge Road, and attempted to open the beer refrigerator, which was locked. The suspect approached the clerk and asked him to unlock it. The clerk explained to the suspect that because it was after 2 a.m., he could not sell alcohol to him. The suspect then pulled out a gun from his front pocket and placed it on the counter and demanded the clerk get him a beer. The clerk complied and retrieved a six-pack of beer. The suspect fled the store with the beer in hand. He was seen leaving the area in a blue or green PT Cruiser.
The suspect is described as a African-American male in his 40s. He is heavy-et and between 5-9 and 5-11. He was wearing black sweatpants and a white tanktop at the time of the robbery.
Detectives hope someone will recognize this suspect and come forward with information needed to identify him.
