GRAND TERRACE MURDER FIRST IN NEARLY 18 YEARS

GRAND TERRACE – Police are continuing to search for clues in the death of a 63-year-old man in a case that was ruled to be a homicide on Monday.
“It’s very unusual to have a homicide here,” said San Bernardino County Sheriff Sgt. Frank Martinez.
The victim, whose name was withheld pending notification of family, was found at 9 a.m. in the backyard of his Grand Royal Estates, a mobile home park on Newport Ave. He was found by a park manager and meter-reading workers, said Martinez.
Grand Terrace is a small community, population around 13,000, between San Bernardino and Riverside, located just off the 215 freeway.
Martinez said witnesses saw the victim, alive, around 6 p.m. on Sunday. He has worked as a traveling salesman for Nabisco, the police reported via a neighbor. The neighbor told police that he was often visited by his son.
Lt. Rick Ells, also of the San Bernardino Sheriff’s, said there has not been a murder in Grand Terrace since November 1991.
