Woodland Brawl

By Lauren Keene

Police say an alcohol-fueled brawl in Woodland landed one man behind bars and another in a Sacramento hospital.

Officers were summoned at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday to the 100 block of Main Street, where they found the 48-year-old victim lying in the middle of the street. He was unconscious and bleeding from what was later determined to be a skull fracture, Sgt. Heath Parsons said.

The man was first taken to Woodland Memorial Hospital, then transferred to the UC Davis Medical Center due to the seriousness of the injury, police said.

Parsons said the man had been injured in a fight that was witnessed by patrons of a nearby bar “who knew who (the suspect) was and came forward.” By 10 p.m. Sunday, police had 20-year-old Timmothy Williams of Woodland in custody.

Williams, of 214 Pine St., was lodged at the Yolo County Jail on suspicion of felony battery.

Parsons said the motive for the alleged assault remains unclear.

“I don’t think anybody really knows,” he said. “I think alcohol was involved with both guys.”
