Crime Duo Snared in String of Car Burglaries

IRVINE, CA – Two suspected thieves were arrested Wednesday following a string of early morning car burglaries.

Gerald Adam Royster, a 28 year old parolee who resides at 442 Newport Avenue #5 in Long Beach, and Jennifer Lauren Welch, 22, of 32434 Crown Valley Parkway #103 in Dana Point, were apprehended separately at their respective residences but police believe they acted together in the robberies.

Irvine Police responded to reports of the early morning burglaries, which occurred at a parking structure in the 5000 block of Scholarship, and received information that two suspects had been checking car doors to see if they were unlocked. It was determined that some of the vehicles had actually been entered and property taken from them.

Witnesses related to police that there were two suspects, one male and one female, and were also able to give authorities the license plate number of the suspected getaway car.

The investigation that followed lead to Long Beach where the suspect vehicle was located and the suspect male, Royster, was arrested. The female suspect, Welch, was located and arrested shortly thereafter in Dana Point.

According to police, the pair was in possession of items stolen from the cars in the parking structure. The items included golf clubs, a Bluetooth, a brief case, a purse and clothing.

Police believe there may be more victims than those already identified and are encouraging people who were parked in the area to check for anything that may have been stolen from their vehicles. Any suspected losses should be reported to the Irvine Police Department.
