ROSEVILLE — After a brief pursuit of foot, Roseville cops have two men in custody after they allegedly broke into landscape supply business early Wednesday morning.

According to Dee Dee Gunther, police spokeswoman, an officer was patrolling the 800 block of Galleria Boulevard when he had heard an alarm. “That was at around 1:44 a.m.,” Gunther said in her press release.

The officer approached Horizon, the landscape supply store, and saw a red pickup truck, its lights switched off, come out of the parking lot. According to police logs, the officer believed that three individuals had been in the vehicle. Gunther stated that the officer attempted to stop the pickup but the driver sped up, heading south on Harding then onto a westbound Interstate 80 lane. The pickup exited at Antelope Road where, for some reason, Gunter reported that the it struck a guardrail.

According to police reports, the occupants baled out of the pickup, attempting to flee. Police established a perimeter, searching for the alleged fugitives. “Officers were assisted by aSacramento County Sheriff’s Department’s helicopter,” Gunther said.

Officers located and arrested two men. The third was never located.

Jose Alfredo Beltran Velarde, 38, of Modesto, is being held on $20,000 bail in Placer County Jail in Auburn on suspicion of recklessly evading an officer, burglary and conspiracy. Jose Delarosa, 27, of Turlock, is being held on $10,000 bail in jail on suspicion of burglary and conspiracy.

Gunther reported that while the men had allegedly forced their way into the business, the store management said that nothing was missing.
