Stabbing at area Community College

Placerville, Calif (March 12)  — A stabbing at the El Dorado campus of Folsom Lake College has sent one to the hospital and another to jail.

Deputies responded to the campus Placerville campus on Campus Drive just before 9 a.m. Monday after receiving a 911 call reporting that a stabbing had just occurred.

“The deputies found a male subject stabbed multiple times in the staff parking lot,” said Sgt. Brian Golmitz, spokesman for the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department. “The victim was severely injured.”

The unnamed victim was taken by air ambulance to Sutter Roseville for treatment of his injuries.

Matthew Raymond, 25, a resident of Placerville, had been detained at the campus by witnesses, where he and the victim were both students, officials said.

The investigation is ongoing as detectives attempt to establish a motive for the brutal attack, Golmitz said.
