Arizona man spending holidays in Nevada County Jail

Nevada County Sheriff’s deputies teamed up with Nevada City Police early Sunday (Dec. 28) morning to capture an Arizona man suspected of breaking into a  residence near Banner Lava Cap and Gold Run roads.

A Nevada Couny Jail booking report says 24-year old Willam N. Odom, who identified himself as a 24-year old dishwasher from Marand, Ariz., was arrested around 3:30 a.m. after being discovered hiding in a wooded area near the scene of the crime.

The report says neighbors had called the police after they reported hearing a window breaking in the 11-thousand block of Pittsburgh Mine Road, just outside of Nevada City.

A squad of deputies along with two Nevada City officers surrounded the site, then searched the nearby area where Odom was subsequently captured.

Deputies reported finding a screen sliced open, and some items from the residence neatly piled up outside.

Odom remains jailed at Nevada County, unable to make $25,000 bail, and reportedly is being investigated for several other holiday burglaries committed near where he was captured.

Two of the previous burglaries were residential, while a third involved a local business.
