Identity thief uses stolen check, tips off police

ROCKLIN — (Dec. 23) Rocklin police arrested a pair of Sacramento women on suspicion oif identity theft and other charges.

Rocklin Police Department, in a press release, said that that detectives served a search warrant on a residence in the 6500 block of Meader Avenue. Earlene Turks, 41, was arrested for identity theft, burglary, passing fraudulent checks and conspiracy. Delia Soto, 42, was arrested for identity theft, passing fraudulent checks and conspiracy.

The investigation, Rocklin police said, started in October when a woman visiting from Alaska reported her purse stolen. Detectives learned that a check book and credit cards had been used to make more than $2,600 in purchases throughout the Sacramento area. Police got a lead on the suspects’ identities after one of them had used a stolen check to pay for a burglar alarm permit.

Turks is currently being held at the Placer County Jail on $25,000 bail while Soto is being held on $10,000 bail.
