Four Sacramento men arrested for San Diego killing

ELK GROVE, Calif. — (Dec. 2) San Diego police, aided by the Elk Grove Police Department and the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department, arrested four men wanted in connection with the Oct. 4, 2008 murder of  22-year-old Luis Santos. One of the suspects is Esteban Nunez, 19, son of former California Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez.

According to the San Diego police, Santos and four friends got into a verbal and physical altercation with four other men after a party. Santos and two of his friends were stabbed during the fight.

Santos died at the scene.

San Diego homicide detectives identified the suspects and later obtained arrest warrants.

Along with Nunez, the other suspects Ryan Jett, Leshanor Thomas, and Rafael Garcia, all 19 years of age live in the Sacramento area. 

Sgt. R. L Davis, Sacramento Sheriff’s Department, told the media that Nunez and the other suspects would be transported to San Diego, where they will be booked and charged with one count of murder and three counts of assault with a deadly weapon.
