Five arrested in Fresno Weapons Disturbance

FRESNO (Oct. 3) — Police have arrested four alleged Fresno Bulldog gang associates and one female who police say were involved in a weapons disturbance.

On Friday, Oct. 3, 2008, officers were dispatched to the area of Maple and Hamilton after receiving reports of shots being fired from a vehicle in southeast Fresno. Multiple calls described the vehicle as being an SUV containing several male adults.

Officers canvassed the area but were unsuccessful in locating any involved subjects.  About 40 minutes later, the department once again received several calls of shots fired from the area of Maple and Hamilton avenues.

Knowing that stray gunshots could be extremely dangerous to innocent citizens in the area, Officer James Lyon observed several subjects near a vehicle matching the description in the 1500 Block of South of Sierra Vista Avenue, said Fresno Police Sergeant Israel Reyes. As Officer Lyon approached the subjects, he was reportedly met with some resistance by several of the individuals.  With the assistance of the department’s Air Unit, four subjects, four males and a female were taken into custody.  During this incident, one of the subjects ran from officers but was located during a search of a nearby residence.

Using a department K-9 police dog, officers located a large-caliber revolver and a significant amount of methamphetamine.  Evidence and witness accounts placed the subjects contacted by Officer Lyon as the individuals involved in the multiple shots fired calls.

Sergeant Israel Reyes from the Southeast Policing District of Fresno referred to those arrested as “gang associates.”
.
Arrested during the incident were the following Fresno residents:

  • Ignacio Gonzalez, 21, – Possession of cocaine and resisting arrest.
