VISALIA – Police arrested a woman who allegedly tried to use fraudulent receipts to return stolen items from WalMart.
On March 29 around 6 p.m., Sabrina Sidhu entered the WalMart on S. Mooney Blvd. in Visalia, armed wit a pre-made fraudulent receipt for store merchandise that she had made at home, police said.
Sidhu, 45, then allegedly selected $2,400 worth of merchandise from the store and attempted to return the items using the fake receipt. After her return was denied by a WalMart associate, Sidhu ran out of the store, taking the merchandise with her, according to authorities.
Police were able to identify Sidhu, of Fresno, as the suspect. On April 3, detectives from the Visalia Police Department, with help from the Central Valley Joint Fugitive Task Force, arrested Sidhu in Fresno. A search of her residence turned up computers, printing material used to print fake receipts, a large amount of unopened merchandise stolen from Walmart, and drugs, police said.
The property recovered was determined to be stolen from WalMart stores in Fresno, Hanford and Visalia.
Sidhu was booked into the Tulare County Jail on charges of commercial burglary, identity theft, grand theft and conspiracy. She also faces charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of stolen property in FresnoCounty.
