Watsonville Police Still Looking for Three In Attack

Victim Was Asked If He Was A Gang Member

The Watsonville Police Department is still looking for three men who beat and robbed a man in an alley between Jefferson Street and Lincoln Street in July.

On Sunday, July 26 at around 10:19 pm, officers with the Watsonville Police Department were dispatched to the Watsonville Community Hospital after personnel had called to report that the victim of a robbery had just arrived there. When officers arrived they were contacted by hospital officials, who escorted them to the victim.

Through a field interview with the victim, officers discovered that he had been followed into the Waters Alley between Jefferson Street and Lincoln Street by three unknown suspects. When one of the suspects asked the victim “where he was from.”

The victim replied that he was not a gang member, but the suspects proceeded to attack the man with a baseball bat. They managed to get the victim’s cash from his pocket during the attack before leaving the scene.

The victim remembers that one of his attackers was an Hispanic male adult, about 5-foot-7, and had on a red hat and a black hooded sweatshirt. The victim did not recall what the other two suspects were wearing at the time of the attack.

The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries during the assault. The Watsonville Police Department is investigating this incident as being gang related, and the three suspects are still outstanding at this time. The Watsonville police are asking that if anyone has information about this incident to please call the Watsonville Police Department at 831-471-1151.
