Wasco Truck Driver Arrested for Stealing Farm Equipment

WASCO — A 45-year-old Wasco truck driver was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly stealing farm equipment.

Ismael Gutierrez was booked into the Kern County Jail on charges of grand theft and possession of stolen property.

According to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, detectives from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Rural Crime Investigation Unit placed a piece of farm equipment under surveillance in the Wasco area in an effort to combat and deter farm equipment theft in the area.

On January 27, detectives discovered that the equipment had been stolen and was being transported by a red truck driven by Gutierrez.
Gutierrez was later located and stopped by detectives at the intersection of Root Avenue and Highway 46 in Wasco.

During search of the truck Gutirrez was driving, detectives found the stolen equipment. Gutierrez was immediately taken into custody without incident.
