NEWPORT BEACH — A Canadian man is being held in Orange County Jail after authorities found over 200 pounds of cocaine while serving a warrant on his motor home, which was parked in the Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort.

Jean Francois Gosselin, 34, of Mascouche, Quebec, was arrested Jan. 20 according to Newport Beach Police records and faces a charge of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. An additional sentencing enhancement for possessing more than 80 kilograms of the drug could also be included if he’s convicted.

The Orange County Regional Narcotics Suppression Program served the warrant and found the total of 92 kilos individually wrapped, reportedly an indication of a large drug operation that would funnel the drugs through a few more stages of distribution before they hit the street.

According to police, 92 kilos would fetch about $19 million on the street and roughly translates to $200 dollars a gram.

Gosselin is scheduled for arraignment Feb. 25.
