Two Shootings in Rancho Cordova One Hour Apart – One Dead, One Wounded

SACRAMENTO—Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating two shootings that happened an hour apart in Rancho Cordova on Saturday night, June 6.

The first happened just before 9:30 p.m. in front of a liquor store at Lincoln Village Drive and Viking Drive. Dion Zigler, 43, of Carmichael was shot at least once in the torso. Deputies said two people fired at Zigler, but no suspects have been arrested. He was transported to a nearby hospital and immediately taken into surgery but was pronounced dead the next morning at 4:51 a.m.

Known as Dion “TWIN” Zigler to family and friends, a GoFundMe page has been set up to help his family with expenses. 75 people have already donated to the fund. The page, set up by Chris Loftin, states “Lets continue to show support and help the Zigler family reach their goal. He sends his love to each and every family that has helped financially & spiritually. They’re meeting with the funeral home today for services and burial arrangements. Please lets reach our goal so we can help Twin out.”

The second shooting occurred at 10:20 p.m. near WE Mitchell Middle School. A man in his 30s was found wounded but conscious by deputies on the 2200 block of River Trail Circle, near Hagan Park and Cordova High School. A suspect or motive has not yet been determined in this shooting either.
