Two arrested for June homicide that occurred in San Jose

According to San Jose Police, “On June 26, 2015 at 10:20 P.M., the San Jose Police Department 911 Communications Center received a call of a male shot in the area of Pensacola Avenue and Terilyn Avene in San Jose.” When officers responded, they located a male victim, who was lying on the sidewalk and appeared to have been shot at least once. Officer Albert Morales with the SJPD said, “The 17 year old victim was pronounced deceased a short time later at the scene.”

The San Jose Police Department Homicide Unit is currently conducting a follow up investigation into the motive and circumstances surrounding the murder. However, after an extensive investigation into the matter, two suspects were identified by investigators, and have now been arrested for the murder of 17-year-old Johnathan Natareno.

Preliminary investigation revealed the suspects had run into the victim on foot, when a verbal argument started between them. That was when Natereno was subsequently shot by one or both of the two suspects. Investigators developed information during the preliminary investigation into the murder, which led to the identification of 21-year-old Jesus Pina, who was arrested in San Jose on July 17, and 18-year-old Anthony Escamilla, who was arrested in San Jose on July 22 by the San Jose Police Special Operations Covert Response Unit.

The two suspects were booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for murder. The SJPD is asking anyone with information regarding this case, to please contact Detective Sgt. Yu #2812 or Detective Tran #3603 of the San Jose Police Department’s Homicide Unit at (408)277-5283.

A GoFundMe page has been established to help support Johnathan Natareno’s family with expenses. The page states about Natareno “He was a young boy, 17 years old and still in high school. Jonathan Natareno had his whole life ahead of him, he was at the wrong place at the wrong time.”
