Two Armed Robberies in Same Parking Lot During August

During the month of August, there have been two separate robberies in the Westfield Santa Anita Mall parking lot.

The first robbery occurred on August 4th at around 10 p.m., on the south side of the Santa Anita Mall parking lot, where a male victim was accosted at gunpoint just as he was about to get in his car. The victim was allegedly forced to hand over his phone and wallet to the suspect.

The suspect was described as a thin black male in his 20’s, a height of 5 foot 10 inches, and he had a bandanna covering his face. After taking the items, he ran off with with another man. There was no vehicle involved and the victim was unharmed from the incident.

On Wednesday, August 19th at around 9:25 p.m. the Arcadia Police Department responded to the west side of Nordstrom, located at 400 S. Baldwin Avenue in the Westfield Santa Anita Mall.

According the report, the female victim was “hit over the head with a black semi-automatic handgun and robbed of her purse and cellular phone”. Then the suspect fled into a vehicle with another suspect driving the vehicle. The suspect’s description was a tall, thin male, wearing a hoodie. The race was not identified. The vehicle was a small, silver or gray SUV.

The victim was escorted to the hospital to get treated for a laceration on her head. Detectives noted that there may be a connection to both of the robberies due to their similarities, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
