BAKERSFIELD — A routine traffic stop last Friday led deputies to arrest a convicted felon, who is suspected of operating a major drug operation in east Bakersfield.
Jose Flores, 30, was booked into the Kern County Jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine, heroin and marijuana for the purpose of sale, maintaining a residence for the purpose of distributing controlled substances and being felon in possession of ammunition.
According to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began at around 11 p.m. on December 19, when deputies from the Gang Suppression Unit pulled Flores over near the intersection of Flower Street and Beale Avenue in east Bakersfield.
Following a search of Flores vehicle, deputies then went to Flores’ residence in the 1800 block of Inyo Street, where they executed a search warrant on his residence. During their search, deputies said they found over two and a quarter pounds of methamphetamine, five pounds of processed and packaged marijuana, a quarter ounce of heroin and over $8,000 in cash.
They also said they discovered paraphernalia associated with sale and distribution of illegal drugs.
