Teen suspect in San Jose crime spree to be charged as adult

The Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office announced on Tuesday that 15-year-old Adonis Muldrow will be charged as an adult in connection with a deadly crime spree that took place in San Jose on November 16.

Jonathan Wilbanks

San Jose police believe Muldrow and 26-year-old Jonathan Wilbanks committed four armed robberies throughout the day, followed by the attempted carjacking and murder of 22-year-old Rory Parkpettiford.

Muldrow and Wilbanks’ violent spree culminated with a shootout with police in which an officer and Wilbanks were injured. Wilbanks was eventually arrested without incident after attempting to hide out in a residence near the Reid-Hillview Airport. He had been shot by police gunfire at least once, but his injuries were not life-threatening. The injured officer was treated and released at a local hospital.

Muldrow managed to flee the scene on foot and remained at large until earlier this week when he was arrested in Concord. He was arraigned on Wednesday, but did not enter a plea.

Wilbanks was arraigned last week in Santa Clara County Superior Court on charges of murder, attempted murder of a police officer, and armed robbery. Muldrow was charged as an adult this week for the same crimes. They remain behind bars in Santa Clara County Jail and Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall respectively.

San Jose police continue to investigate the violent incidents and are asking anyone with information to contact them at (408) 277-5283.
