Suspected Marijuana Grower Missing Under Suspicious Circumstances

PERRIS – The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department is seeking a man who disappeared on Tuesday under suspicious circumstances; his family fears foul play is involved.

When Gabriel Milane, age 51 of Perris, failed to return home on May 23, his family contacted the Riverside Sheriff’s Department the following day. Officers from the Lake Elsinore Station arrived at the property on the 25500 block of Margarth Street, in the unincorporated area of Perris where Milane lived. Milane’s family reported that he had gone to visit a property he owned, and had not returned. The family had found signs of an altercation at Milane’s other property and were concerned.

Deputies soon discovered that Milane was involved in the illegal cultivation of marijuana at the property. Investigators from the Sheriff’s Department took over the case and were able to confirm that Milane was renting part of his property to marijuana cultivators.

Investigators believe that Milane’s disappearance is possibly related to an altercation with his business partner. An argument over missing marijuana and/or revenue generated from the marijuana may have started the series of events that ended in foul play.

In a press release, the Sheriff’s Department identified Milane’s business partner as twenty-three year old German Gonzalez-Garcia, a resident of Menifee. Investigators believe that Gonzalez-Garcia fled to Mexico following the altercation. Records show that Gonzalez-Garcia had been arrested in April of this year for misdemeanor domestic violence.

Investigator Mike McClanahan stated that based on information gathered during the investigation, “Gonzalez-Garcia currently has an active warrant for his arrest for kidnapping with a $1,000,000.00 bail.”

Investigators are still actively searching for leads and for the whereabouts of both Milane and Gonzalez-Garcia.

Anyone with information pertaining to this incident is encouraged to contact Investigator McClanahan or Investigator Carranza at the Lake Elsinore Station at 951-245-3300 or 951-776-1099.
