Stolen Car I.D. Tips Cops to Meth and Paraphernalia

Police officers patrolling downtown Davis in the early morning hours of Friday, December 26 identified a vehicle that reportedly was stolen from a location in Dixon.

According to Davis P.D. spokesman Sergeant Dan Powell, officers contacted Victoria Lacey, 39, and Vacaville resident Brandy Bauman, 23, a few minutes before 1 am in the 900 block of Third Street near the California Northern Railway tracks.

Once Lacey and Bauman were connected with the allegedly stolen vehicle, the Davis P.D. officers searched it. They discovered methamphetamine and associated paraphernalia. The result was that both women were cited for drug offenses. Bauman faces an additional charge for grand theft auto after she allegedly divulged to officers that she had been driving the stolen car, according to Powell.

The Vacaville resident was taken into custody and lodged in the Yolo County Jail. Lacey, with no permanent address on record, was cited and released from the scene.

Bauman has been in custody frequently in the past few months. Records show she was arrested on September 5 for possession of a controlled substance, followed by a November 28 arrest for possession of burglar’s tools and unauthorized use of personal identifying information. That was followed on December 16 for possession of stolen property, with charges of retaining personal ID with intent to defraud added on December 20.

Bauman’s history goes back even further. In December 2009, at age 18, records show she was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia, petty theft, and failure to appear in court for an earlier charge. Then in February of 2010 she was charged with forgery, issuing a fictitious check, destroying evidence, and possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia for sale.  That was followed by another arrest in 2010 and two in 2011 on drug charges, failure to appear in court, parole violations, and in September 2011 being a felon in possession of a firearm.
