VALLEY SPRINGS – CALAVERAS COUNTY  A 19-year-old man is facing multiple charges for his attempts to meet up with a 10-year-old girl for sex.

The Calaveras Sheriff’s department were alerted to a grown man who had propositioned a young girl through his Facebook account. According to a Sheriff’s press release, the suspect had asked the girl to meet up with him for sexual intercourse. Deputies took over the girl’s account, and continued the communications with the adult teenager. During the contacts with him, the suspect made sexually explicit statements to whom he thought was the girl that he knew to be only ten years old. He communicated that he wanted to meet her at the Valley Springs Starbucks Sunday night. The suspect was Dylan Ray Mills of Burson, a small town three and a half miles west of Valley Springs.

At 10 pm, an hour after the coffee shop closed, Mills messaged the girl that he was in front of the Starbucks. Sheriff’s deputies located him sitting in his car, and took him into custody. He was booked into Calaveras County Jail facing charges of contacting a minor for purpose of engaging in lewd and lascivious behavior and arranging and meeting with a minor for purpose of engaging in lewd or lascivious behavior, both felony charges. In his interview with deputies he reportedly admitted to the documented Facebook conversations.
