SJPD arrest third suspect in double homicide

SAN JOSE – The San Jose Police Department announced on Friday, January 23, that the homicide unit had identified and arrested a third suspect in connection with the September 23, 2014 killing that occurred on the 100 block of Rancho Drive in San Jose.

Through a follow up investigation, the SJPD homicide unit was able to identify 20-year-old Miguel Antonio Cornejoas the third suspect involved in the double murder of a father and son. The SJPD announced that Suspect Cornejo was arrested on January 14 in Concord, California by San Jose Police, and booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for PC 187, felony murder.

According to SJPD Officer Albert Morales, “The Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office has charged Suspect Cornejo with two counts of murder and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon.”

This latest arrest was based on follow up information relating to the September 23, 2014 shooting death of the two victims inside a residence on the 100 block of Rancho Drive in San Jose. A 9-1-1 emergency call was received at 8:56 PM reporting the death of one male victim. SJPD Officers responded to the scene and located two adult male victims who had both been shot at least once by unknown male suspects.

The SJPD identified the victims as Bryan Lang and his father, Keith Lang. The police reported that both victims were pronounced deceased at the scene. A third adult female victim was also injured during the incident and was treated for non life-threatening injuries.

Morales said, “The San Jose Police Department Homicide Unit has identified and arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of Keith and Bryan Lang.” Those two suspects, 20-year-old Availek Hepburn-Martin, and 20-year-old Tearri Jaquille Richard, are currently in custody awaiting court appearances for the murders.
