Shooting at business complex still a mystery

The San Jose Police Department is investigating an incident that occurred on Thursday, August 13 at 12:55 a.m., in which San Jose Police Department officers responded to Lundy Avenue on a report of a person being shot and killed by an unknown suspect.

When SJPD officers arrived they quickly closed off the area to preserve any clues which might help them determine the suspect and motive of the shooting that occurred within a business complex.

The shooting occurred inside a business located at 1885 Lundy Avenue, which consists of five main offices. San Jose Police were called around 1:00 AM when persons nearby heard gunshots, and located a wounded man on the first floor of the building.

According to SJPD Sergeant Enrique Garcia, “Upon arrival, officers located an adult male inside the building suffering from at least one gunshot wound.” The victim was transported by emergency response personnel to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased a short time later. Garcia said, “The identity of the victim will not be released until the Coroner’s Office confirms the victim’s identity and notifies next of kin.”

Garcia said, “The suspect(s) have not been identified or apprehended.” Homicide investigators have taken over the case and are still investigating the shooting and reviewing video surveillance that was taken near the front entrance of the business.

This marks San Jose’s 19th homicide this year, with two others happening just hours apart from each other.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Rick Yu or Detective Wayne Smith of the SJPD Homicide Unit.
