SFPD arrest two homicide suspects in 6th Street shooting

SAN FRANCISCO – San Francisco Police arrested two suspects in connection with Tuesday’s homicide that took place near 6th Street and Minna Alley, department officials announced.

SFPD officers took San Francisco residents Darius York, 34, and Joseph Young, 33, into custody at about 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the report. Facing murder and conspiracy charges, York and Young were booked into the San Francisco County Jail Wednesday morning.

“Through numerous investigative leads, our investigators located York and Young in Fremont, Ca., where they were taken into custody on July 22,” officials stated in a report.

Police initially responded to a 911 call at about 5:11 a.m. Tuesday regarding an individual that was hurt near 6th Street and Minna Alley.

According to the report, officers were later re-routed to San Francisco General Hospital where a shooting victim had been transported by friends. The victim, 19-year-old Daniel Beltran, succumbed to his injury shortly after his arrival at SFGH.

Numerous officers and investigators responded to the area of 6th Street and Minna Alley and determined the shooting had occurred in a lobby of a building on the 100 block of 6th Street, officials reported.

Though arrests have been made in connection to this case, SFPD investigators are asking anyone with information on this incident to contact the San Francisco Police anonymously at 415-575-4444.
