Search Warrants Produce Drugs, Firearms in Hollister

HOLLISTER—The San Benito County Sheriff’s Department teamed up with three other law enforcement agencies – the United Narcotic Enforcement Team, the Gilroy Police Department Anti Crime Team and California Highway Patrol and served two narcotic search warrants.

The three agencies met around 7:15 a.m. on Thursday, July 19 to serve the search warrants at the 1200 block of Stone Alley and the 800 block of Fourth Street.  Both addresses were located in the city limits of Hollister.

Authorities recovered a shotgun, a sawed-off shotgun, a rifle, a semi-automatic handgun, two air soft handguns, approximately 23 grams of methamphetamine, approximately 3/4 of pound of marijuana, digital scales, handgun magazines along with ammunition, illegal high capacity magazines, a police scanner, three metal knuckles and three throwing stars at the Stone Alley address.

Police arrested Eli Valencia, 36, and booked him into the San Benito County jail for the possession of methamphetamine for sale, which had a street value of approximately $1840 to $2300 dollars.  He was also charged with four counts of felony possession of a firearm.

Evidence found at the Fourth Street address was approximately 6 grams of methamphetamine, which had a street value of $480 to $600 dollars, 1 gram of cocaine, which had a street value of $80 to $100 dollars, a 9mm handgun, three ski masks, surveillance video and a digital police scanner.

Authorities arrested Victor Cabrera, 32, and booked him into the San Benito County Jail for the possession of methamphetamine for sale, possession of cocaine, narcotic addict in possession of a firearm and maintaining a residence for the sale/use of narcotics.

“Anytime we can get that many guns off the streets it is a victory,”  San Benito County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Tony Lamonica said.  “Serving these search warrants was a very big deal for this county.”
