Santa Ana Police Searching for Robbery Suspect

SANTA ANA – Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a robber who held up a gas station attendant at gunpoint and emptied the cash register before fleeing.

The suspect was captured on the store’s video surveillance camera during the July 4 incident at the World Oil gas station at 1702 N. Broadway in Santa Ana. Surveillance video showed the suspect enter the store around 1 p.m. and point a handgun at the attendant behind the counter. He then pointed the gun at a customer who walked from the back of the store and appeared to order the customer to lay face down on the floor.

A summary of the incident from the Santa Ana Police Department noted that “the suspect demanded money from the cash register while showing the clerk the handgun. The suspect removed U.S. currency from the cash register and fled the location on foot.”

The suspect had what appeared to be a goatee and was wearing dark pants and a baseball cap. Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to contact Santa Ana police detective D. Aguilar at 714-245-8443 or Orange County Crime Stoppers at 1-855-TIPS-OCCS.
