San Rafael PD Alerts Public to Construction Site Burglaries

SAN RAFAEL – San Rafael PD has issued a warning to the public about construction site burglaries. A rash of thefts have taken place at residential building projects during the month of October.

Unknown suspect(s) have forced entry into homes under construction and made off with valuable tools according to all of the related reports on file. At this time the total loss is over $20,000. No suspects or suspicious vehicles have been reported in connection with any of the burglaries. Two incidents were reported on Hillside Avenue, one on Scenic Avenue, and one each on Eucalyptus Lane and Hill View Avenue.

Most of the burglaries reported have taken place between the hours of 9 pm and 7 am. The department is concerned that as daylight savings time ends there is the potential that these burglaries will not only continue but criminal activity could pick up as darkness falls earlier.

The department asks the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to the San Rafael Police Department. The department is providing additional patrols in areas that have homes currently under construction. A detective has also been dedicated specifically to this series of burglaries.
