The fatal, gang related shooting occurred on Monterey Highway near this apartment complex.

According to San Jose Police Officer Albert Morales, “At approximately 9:25 P.M., officers responded to the 5200 block of Monterey Road on a report of a person’s shooting.” Flores was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased upon arrival. This was San Jose’s 12th homicide of the year.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a verbal argument occurred regarding neighborhood gang affiliations, and that’s when they fired multiple shots, striking Flores. Morales said, “During the ensuing investigation, San Jose Police Department’s Homicide Unit identified San Jose residents Moises Tejada and Ray Reese as participants in the shooting death of Mr. Flores. In addition, this incident was determined to be gang motivated.”

On Wednesday July 15, the suspects Tejeda and Reese were located and arrested in San Jose. The two men were booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for felony murder under PC 187, and are expected to face gang enhancement charges.

Records show that Tejeda. also known as Moises Tejada, has been arrested three times in the past year, most recently on February 22 for possession of a controlled substance and public intoxication, along with driving without a valid license. He faced the same charges in September and June of 2014, with the addition of carrying a concealed firearm on June 7. In November 2013 he was again charged with carrying a loaded firearm in public. Ray Reese was arrested in April of this year on domestic violence charges of inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or co-habitant, threats of violence, and probation violations. He had been charged with assault in the past, in 2007 and 2010, along with possession of narcotics in 2011.
