Sacramento Couple Arrested for Elder Abuse and Robbery

SACRAMENTO—Police arrested a man and a woman on Monday, March 16, on suspicion of robbery, battery with great bodily injury, and elder abuse of a man in Citrus Heights.

Police responded to a call at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Monday to the area of Sunrise Boulevard and Greenback Lane in Citrus Heights, where a 70-year-old man had been assaulted and robbed of his money and other belongings.

The elderly man was transported to a nearby hospital for non life-threatening injuries. A witness was able to provide descriptions of possible suspects to a patrol officer.

One suspect, Duran Kandyce Briardy, 20, was taken into custody. Her alleged accomplice, Garett Lamar Wallace, 24, was seen running into a nearby apartment complex on Birdcage and Greenback. He was found a short time later hiding on an apartment patio.

Wallace and Briardy are reportedly married, or at least living together in one of the apartment buildings on Birdcage Street, opposite the Sports Authority at the Birdcage Marketplace.

Wallace and Duran were both booked into Sacramento County Jail.
