Routine Traffic Stop Leads to Narcotics Discovery

Deputies with the Mono County Sheriff’s Department arrested 55 year-old Bruce Pottenger after a routine traffic stop led to the discovery of narcotics.

Around 8:30 p.m. of Monday, July 29th, Deputies pulled Pottenger over for his vehicle’s expired registration. As the Deputies continued to speak to Pottenger, he informed them that he was currently on probation for drug possession. Deputies asked Pottenger to exit the vehicle to conduct a search of the car. They also asked if he had any drugs on him, to which he responded no.

A search of Pottenger’s vehicle resulted in four grams of methamphetamine, three methamphetamine pipes, and also narcotic paraphernalia that was located inside a black backpack in the car.

Pottenger was arrested and taken to the Mono County Jail in Bridgeport without incident. His charges are yet to be determined.
