Roseville PD Arrest Vehicle Theft Suspect

Officers from the Roseville Police Department reportedly arrested a man last week on suspicion of attempting to steal from parked cars after receiving a tip from an observant resident, according to an official weekly crime report.

Josef Holguin Ortega, 34, of Roseville was reportedly arrested on suspicion of burglary, possessing burglar’s tools and other related charges.

According to Roseville PD, on Thursday, August 28 at 1 am, a resident reported seeing a suspicious male wearing a backpack, riding a bicycle on Lily Cross Drive, and trying car door handles. Officers reportedly patrolled the area and saw someone sitting inside a sedan at the corner of Astill Drive and Grider Drive with the car door open.

Officers reportedly detained the man and checked with the owner of the sedan, who reportedly did not know the man and had not given him permission to be inside the car.

Lately there have been a number of vehicle-related crimes in the Roseville area, and the Roseville PD released a map detailing where they have been occurring. Remember to report any crimes to Roseville Crime Stoppers at 916-783-CRIME.
