Ridgecrest Woman Arrested for Counterfeiting and Drugs

BAKERSFIELD — A 44-year-old Ridgecrest woman is behind bars after police arrested her on Tuesday morning for making phony money and selling drugs.

Carla Wyatt was booked into the Kern County Jail for possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for sales, keeping a house for the sale of controlled substances, and numerous counts of possession of counterfeit items, forgery, manufacturing/circulating unauthorized paper money, and criminal conspiracy.

According to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrested Wyatt after they served a search warrant at a home in the 6100 block of Pioneer Drive in east Bakersfield at around 9 a.m. on May 5.

Deputies said they located over $800 in counterfeit U.S. currency and numerous tools and equipment indicative to the manufacture of counterfeit currency, including computers, printers, cameras, scanners, an autograph light tracer box, photography paper, digital and physical U.S. currency templates, digital and physical U.S. currency photocopies, digital and physical U.S. currency photographs, and numerous cut up, torn, or shredded counterfeit currency.

Deputies said they also found an ounce of suspected methamphetamine, 94 plastic baggies, and a digital scale inside the master bedroom.

Wyatt has a long history of drug convictions according to the Kern County Superior Court web site, including 22 different hearings dating back to 1991.
