Reno Man Arrested in Serial Pharmacy Robberies

A Nevada man is in custody suspected of committing multiple pharmacy robberies in the north Lake Tahoe area.

According to The Placer County Sheriff’s Office, on Tuesday, August 11, at about 2:20 p.m. sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call. The caller indicated that a Rite Aid store on North Lake Boulevard in Kings Beach was just robbed. According to witnesses, the suspect entered the store, flashed what appeared to be a gun and demanded narcotics. He was able to steal prescription narcotics including Norco and methadone, both of which are painkillers.

After the suspect had left the store, witnesses called 911 and provided a description of the man and his vehicle. A detective, who was in the area, spotted the car and gave chase.

The suspect drove down a dead-end street where the pursuit ended. The man was identified as 48-year-old Peter Joseph Terry of Reno. After searching the suspect’s car, detectives found a fake handgun, which they believe he used in the robbery.

Peter Terry is arrested - he is seen on the right - in a photo provided by the Placer County Sheriff's office.

It is believed that Terry hit the same Kings Beach pharmacy two other times, but he didn’t limit his crimes to Placer County. He is also suspected of committing several other robberies at pharmacies from the San Francisco Bay Area to Reno over the past few months.

Terry was taken into custody and booked into the Placer County Jail in Auburn. He is being held on $1 million bail.
