Redlands Man Suspected of Killing Mother Faces Court Appearance

REDLANDS – A man suspected of killing his mother and severely injuring his sister in a Saturday morning attack will face an arraignment, which will likely take place on Tuesday.

Pablo Hernandez, Jr., 25, was arrested on Saturday morning after police discovered Ines Hernandez, 46, dead in a home on the 400 block of Doyle Ave. His 21-year-old sister, who was treated and released from Redlands Community Hospital, has yet to be identified by Redlands police. Hernandez, who is charged with murder and attempted murder, will likely appear in San Bernardino Superior Court. Authorities said his appearance will probably not take place until Tuesday afternoon.

Redlands police spokesman Carl Baker said units responded to a call at the Doyle Ave. address shortly after 5:30 a.m. on Saturday. He called the report, “suspicious circumstances.”

Officers discovered the 46-year-old resident dead and her 21-year-old daughter, whose injuries were not specified due to privacy laws. She was treated by Redlands paramedics and transported to the hospital for surgery.
The residence is located in north Redlands, a short distance away from Clement Middle School and a site used for local baseball and football activities. North Redlands is considered a high crime area that usually produces higher number of assaults and murders. The crime scene residence had four people reportedly living there, including the victim, two adult children and a grandchild.

According to reports, part of the police investigation took place at a neighbor’s front porch where a bloody handprint was discovered on the front door of that residence, apparently the results of the daughter seeking help.
Hernandez was taken to West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga, held without bail until his arraignment, said authorities.
