Pregnant Woman Still Missing in San Bernardino County Desert

TWENTYNINE PALMS – Law enforcement agencies have exhausted multiple resources while spreading an exhaustive search for a missing pregnant teen-ager over more than 200 square miles of remote desert. Her disappearance, says law enforcement officials, does not appear to be volunteer.

Erin Corwin, 19, is still missing, says county sheriff’s in Friday’s latest update. Corwin, who is pregnant, initially came up missing on Saturday, June 28. Two days later, her car was discovered near the back entrance of a U.S. Marine Corps Air Combat Center. “She was last seen leaving her Twentynine Palms’ home en route to Joshua Tree National Forest,” said Sgt. Trevis Newport. She left at 7 a.m.
One day later, her husband reported her missing, he said.

An extensive air and ground search began immediately, using volunteers along with search and rescue teams. San Bernardino Sheriff’s Homicide Detail was also asked to assist.
Corwin, who is 5-feet, 2-inches, weighing 120 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes, was three months pregnant, according to reports. She was last seen driving a 2013 Toyota Corolla, blue, with California license plates (7CJX519).

Authorities said Corwin has no history of medical or psychological issues.Twentynine Palms, located in San Bernardino County, is near a U.S. Marine Base. The search area was conducted around the Joshua Tree National Park, which is located about 25 miles from Corwin’s home.

Information released during the search, said Newport, “has been minimal due to the suspicious nature of Erin’s disappearance. It could turn into a criminal investigation,” he said. “Information released about the search techniques, search areas and interviews will be minimal.” There has been no sign of Corwin, nor does her disappearance appear to be voluntary, he said.

Rescue volunteers from areas – San Bernardino, Los Angeles and Kern counties, National Park Service Rangers, plus area law enforcement agencies – have taken part in the search. U.S. Marines have also taken part in the search, said authorities.
