REDLANDS – A known runaway Corona teenager was being sought by Redlands Police after she disappeared earlier this month.

Alexis Stephen, 14, of Corona, was last seen at the Loma Linda University Behavioral Medicine Center. According to police reports, her mother, Tara Stephen, said “Lexy” got her purse and went to the restroom.

Ten minutes later, she had disappeared.

Her mother told police Lexy could have told strangers that she was older, “or she’s gotten into the wrong hands.”

Carl Baker, a spokesman for the Redlands Police Department, said plans are “to hand over the case to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. The missing girl’s hometown, Corona, is in that county. He also said the Behavior Medicine Center was cooperating with the investigation.

Since she has run away before, Baker said the investigation “is as a runaway juvenile.”

Lexy Stephen is 5-feet-6, weighs just over 100 pounds, and had brown eyes and brown shoulder-length hair. Report any tips to (909) 798-7671.
