Police make arrest in Mission District slaying

SAN FRANCISCO – San Francisco Police announced the arrest of a suspect they believe is responsible for the fatal shooting of 25-year-old Dominic Anderson in June, according to a San Francisco Chronicle staff report.

Local police investigators arrested San Francisco-resident Justin Howard, 25, at his girlfriend’s house in Richmond on July 9.

Gunned down in San Francisco’s Mission District at approximately 9:15 a.m. on June 13, Anderson was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the torso near the corner of 15th and Mission streets, officials announced earlier.

Anderson was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where he died of his injuries.

Though police gave no motive for the killing, Howard remains in custody on charges of homicide in San Francisco County Jail.

Both parties appear to have past run-ins with the law. The victim, Dominic Anderson was arrested in February 2012 for vehicle robbery, and earlier this year for burglary and resisting arrest, according to police records. Justin Howard, the shooter, may be the same man arrested in December 2011 for domestic violence, assault with a firearm, threats and child endangerment.
