Middletown woman accused of child molestation

Middletown is a small community of fewer than 1500 people and located in the rural area of south western Lake County, between Lower Lake and Calistoga. In a community that small, most of the residents either know or have connections to each other. Tracy Ann Beverlin, who lives just outside the center of town, will suffer a lot of damage to her reputation if she remains living there, whether the allegations she is now faced with prove to be true or not. Even if she is exonerated of the charges, there will likely always be talk of her arrest this past week.

Beverlin, who is 34-years-old, is accused of inviting teenage boys to her home and providing them with alcohol and sexual favors. What is even worse is that the boys she is accused of dealing with are only 13-years-old, barely out of puberty and at high risk of alcohol poisoning.

According to Lt. Steve Brooks of the Lake Sheriff’s office, her arrest was the result of a conversation one of the victims had with his friends last Friday night, June 20. His parents overheard him talking about an overnight stay at Beverlin’s house. He told his friends that Ms. Beverlin had provided liquor and had had sex with him. The parents confronted him, and he admitted to them that he had been having an ongoing sexual relationship with her, and that she had given him alcohol. The parents reported this story to the Sheriff’s office, and deputies responded and took their statements. As a result of the information the collected, they also contacted the parents of another 13-year-old boy.

The second victim they spoke to also claimed he had stayed over at Beverlin’s house, and that she had been drinking with him and two other juveniles. The deputies collected evidence corroborating the statements taken from the two boys.

On Saturday at 9 pm, deputies contacted Beverlin at her home and confronted her with the accusations. She denied everything she was accused of, stating that she would never provide alcohol to underage kids.

Tracy Beverlin was arrested that night, and booked at the Lake County Hill Road Correctional Facility. She faces charges of unlawful sex with a minor more than three years younger than herself, unlawful sex with a minor under 16 by a person over 21, distribution of lewd material to a minor, oral copulation with a child under 14 and 10 years younger than herself, committing a lewd act upon a child, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. She posted bail of $75,000 and is due in court for her first hearing on August 19.
