Man tried to flee after DUI crash that killed woman

A 24-year-old Bakersfield man involved in a car crash that killed a woman has been arrested for driving under the influence of drugs.

Alex Rubio was speeding in a residential neighborhood in Bakersfield when he smashed into a vehicle driven by 22-year-old Princess Flores Almonidovar. The young woman died at the scene.

Rubio tried to flee, and was chased for a short distance by Bakersfield police before being apprehended.

He was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs and alcohol, felony hit and run, felony vehicular manslaughter, and resisting arrest.
