SACRAMENTO— The Sacramento Sheriff’s Department has arrested two men for a weekend shooting that killed a man and wounded four other people in the parking lot of a smoke shop.
Frank Jackson, 19, and Tana Dania, 23 were booked on Sunday night, July 13, 2014, on suspicion of homicide. Dania was also booked on suspicion of attempted homicide. They remained jailed without bail Monday.
Jackson was also among those wounded in Sunday’s 1 a.m. shootout at Hookah Lounge Smoke Shop located on the 1900 block of Fulton Avenue near Alta Arden Expressway.
A large gathering of people in this area on Fulton Avenue ended in shootings.
Authorities say two separate arguments and a shooting broke out in a large crowd in front of the shop. Witnesses say dozens of shots were fired. Five people were shot. Tyrell Lamont Hall, 20, of Sacramento was killed.
A friend of Hall’s, Angelo Mares, said he believed the victim was struck by a stray bullet. However, Sacramento County Sheriff spokeswoman Lisa Bowman said Hall had been involved in an altercation with at least one other person and was shot when he turned around to leave.
Authorities are still on the lookout for a third person in connection with the shooting. Deputies said he was last seen wearing a light-colored baseball cap and white shirt.
UPDATE – 7/16 – The Sacramento Sheriff’s office announced today the arrest of 28-year-old James Wallace in connection to the shooting. He was booked for attempted murder, and detectives believe he played a significant role in the incident.
