Man arrested for public drunkenness after allegedly posing as TSA agent

SAN FRANCISCO – A 53-year-old man, identified as Eric McLean Slighton of San Francisco, was arrested for public drunkenness at San Francisco International Airport, possibly facing charges for groping two women while posing as a Transportation Security Administration agent.

Authorities said Slighton, who was seen drinking at an airport lounge, was a ticketed passenger who went through the security checkpoint, according to a report by CBS San Francisco.

Slighton returned to the passenger screening area and convinced a female passenger who had already undergone screening to go to a private booth, according to the report. Authorities were not able to interview the woman to find out what took place inside the booth because she left the area to catch her flight.

Actual TSA agents took note of the suspicious man once he was caught ushering another female passenger into the private screening area because “men are only allowed to screen women in the booths if a female agent is present,” the CBS report noted.

TSA media officials told United Reporting Publishing via email that an investigation into this breach of security and public trust is still ongoing, stating, “TSA is aware of the alleged incident and is cooperating with law enforcement.” TSA officials also said that the alleged incident did not involve any TSA agents or employees from Covenant Aviation Security Services at the San Francisco International Airport.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle’s Matier and Ross Column, Slighton has been identified as a private-equity executive with a “big-time international resume.” He was carrying business cards from Aktis Capital Singapore, a private equity firm, at the time of his arrest. In addition to the public drunkenness charge, Slighton could face other charges, including false imprisonment, according to authorities.
